Leadership – Burke’s Pillars

There are hundreds of books, articles and versions of the “Pillars of Leadership”.   Every leader focuses on the one’s that they feel are important.  I have read many of them, and from them I have developed my own, which are:

  1. Enthusiastic, Infectious dedication to core mission
  2. Visibility in community, industry and center of influence
  3. Unconditional support for those in and out of the organization that make a difference
  4. Constant contact and communication
  5. Be opportunistic, always, and look with your mind not just your eyes
  6. Continuous focus on organizational improvement
  7. Consider the past experiences, but be laser focused on the future objectives

There are many schools of thought on the most productive leadership traits and qualities, but these are the ones that I believe in wholeheartedly, and if you value these same things, that we have a unity of vision.   Whether parenting, coaching, helping those with needs, building a business, or managing a team;   progression towards ideal vision should be the goal.
